- Identify early risks and complications associated with hip fracture surgery, including pain, pressure ulcers, and delirium.
- Apply national guidelines such as the Irish Hip Fracture Standards and Integrated Care Pathway to real clinical scenarios.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon ED arrival and ward admission, including iNEWS, CMS, and pressure risk scores.
- Implement effective pain management strategies, including the use of pain scales and multimodal analgesia.
- Demonstrate safe patient transfers and use of clinical handover tools like ISBAR.
- Support early mobilisation under physiotherapy guidance, promoting recovery through ankle exercises, breathing, and goal-setting.
