Teen Sleep and Digital Technology - Important Issues
Teen Sleep and Digital Technology - Important Issues is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course designed for healthcare professionals, educators, school counsellors, psychologists, nurses, paediatric clinicians, and allied health practitioners working with adolescents and families. This course explores the growing relationship between sleep deprivation, digital technology use, and adolescent physical, cognitive, emotional, and social wellbeing. Adolescence is a critical period of brain development, emotional maturation, and learning. However, modern teenagers are increasingly exposed to sleep disruption due to excessive screen use, social media engagement, gaming, academic pressures, irregular routines, and lifestyle changes. Poor sleep may contribute to emotional dysregulation, impaired concentration, reduced academic performance, behavioural difficulties, anxiety, depression, and physical health concerns.
