An ABG test measures blood pH, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and bicarbonate levels to assess acid-base balance, ventilation, and oxygenation in patients.

The normal blood pH range is 7.35 to 7.45. Values below indicate acidaemia, while values above indicate alkalaemia.
