Hospital presentations: Blackouts and collapse

This course explores the assessment and management of patients presenting with blackouts, transient loss of consciousness, and collapse in hospital settings. Learners will gain an understanding of the common cardiovascular, neurological, and other medical causes of collapse, while developing a structured approach to patient assessment using the ABCDE framework. The course also highlights key clinical features that help differentiate epileptic seizures from other causes of transient loss of consciousness and outlines appropriate investigations to support diagnosis and management.
