Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurological condition affecting movement and other body functions. Common symptoms include tremor, stiffness, slow movement, sleep problems and cognitive changes.
Motor symptoms include tremor, rigidity, slow movement and balance problems. Non-motor symptoms can include fatigue, sleep difficulties, depression, constipation and cognitive changes.
Parkinson's disease is usually diagnosed by a specialist based on medical history, symptoms and physical examination. There is no single test that confirms PD.
Taking Parkinson's medication at the prescribed times helps manage symptoms and maintain movement. Delayed or missed doses can cause significant deterioration, so accurate medication management is important.
